Corporate Irresponsibility --> Alternative Media Advocacy

recently alternative digital and film media is producing documentaries and films which highlight the cruelty of corporation to the environment as well as the long term destruction of land, water & air, as well as other species on the planet - for the mere petty richness and selfish un-fulfill-able greed that the corporations have.

one of such movies is this : An Inconvenient Truth

who has seen it? what are your thoughts on it?

what can u do, to make a better, sustainable world possible?

each one of us, can be examples of conscientious consumers and make sure that our taxes go to the govts which are AWARE and genuinely concerned about hazards to the environment that we all inhabit.

war-torn Muslim countries can make millions of such movies & document the current or recent history of corporations which are sucking their lands dry, and making the delicate balance of nature, go amuck.

we all have a HUGE responsibility to protect our Nature and surroundings, live simply, without the madness of consumerism, so how can we find a solution to this & put it into concerted action?

Re: Corporate Irresponsibility --> Alternative Media Advocacy

We need more Muslim Journalists in the world. Islam needs a voice in the media - that's where everything starts from...all the bias, propaganda, myths, etc.

Journalism (the media) was originally created to EXPOSE. (I know that sounds pretty left-winged, but then again, those who are most likely to become journalists are liberals, because they are the ones who want to expose abuse/opression done by these corporations).

Also, by having more Muslim Journalists, it will create a fine balance in which people can properly generate their own opinions, rather than be swayed by prejudice.

Re: Corporate Irresponsibility --> Alternative Media Advocacy

yikes. Dushi topic this sensitive in cafe,

My Opinion: its the law of the land. you dont see many Arab or Muslim media Doing what Western media is doing and vice versa, or All media reports from developing countries, heck we even forget about genocides in Africa or it becomes the 5th minute news.

But on a positive note, with technology being available all over the world i think we'll see more and more "to the point" reporting without political correctness and fear of loosing sponsors.

BTW Nice topic.

Re: Corporate Irresponsibility --> Alternative Media Advocacy

Hi Dush, we need to assume our own responsibilities too. Corporations are responsible but not 100%. All of us are part of it.
How many times do we throw our newspapers/other papers, cans & other stuff to the recycling bins. How much effort do we do - NONE.... and we still don't bother.
So we, as individuals need to do our part first and then we can blame others/corps.

As for Muslim govts/countries taking care of their land & preserving the nature, its a very very long way to go. They have so many other issues to think of - such as saving lives etc that they won't even think of these other environmental issues which is sad but true.

Re: Corporate Irresponsibility --> Alternative Media Advocacy

correct.

muslims must be come able professionally to present truth, to vocalize it as is and to stand by honest expose' of bad media that harps on endless consumerism.

how come u keep moving my threads, though - an old grudge that i am unaware of or forgave?

look at the rest of the Cafe content?? then ask urself, how come this thread is UNFIT for it??

in any event, best to ur moderation!
