Corn Syrup substitute?

I want to make thick chocolate syrup using cocoa powder but the recipe has corn syrup and i hvnt found it in stores yet…
Can anyone tell me a good substitute of corn syrup.:jazak:

Ever heard of sheera , they mix lot sugar in water and boil it till it become thick and sticky , you can stop at thick.

you can try molasses too. corn syrup and molasses will keep your cake/cookies/whatever more moist than plain sugar syrup..
