HI guys somthing really annoyed me so id thought id share with u’s.
on top of the 5 grand we are paying for the hotel we have booked for my wedding, we have to pay a corkage charge of £5 per person, whish will be£1600 in total!
I was at a weding show last week and the hotel had leaflets saying book for july or august and you dont need to pay any corkage charge - which is so unfair, its like we are being penalised for booking in advance!! I spoke to the woman and she says it only applies to people who book now.
Re: corkage charge
what is a corkage charge?

what is a corkage charge?
It's what restaurants charge to "open" bottles of wine and liquor that you bring in yourself instead of using their bar.
Re: corkage charge
oh..
so if ur bringing in wine and liquor to your wedding, then yeah it makes sense to have that charge.
Re: corkage charge
we are NOT having any alchohol! this corkage charge is purely only for bringing soft drinks onto the premises. we still have to pay for drinks that we serve. its just daylight robbery far as im concerned.
Re: corkage charge
it could also be because you will be using there bar space. Are you?
Re: corkage charge
^ i've never heard of corkage for soft drinks before... thats weird. i know its pretty standard for alcohol.
why aren't they providing a non alcoholic bar?
