hi .. i am 36 weeks and had an ultrasound done and the the doc said that the cord was around the baby’s neck… Has anyone else had this experience? Will this lead to a higher chance of a c-sec? as i want a normal delivery this time.
Re: cord around the baby’s neck
Happened with me at 38 weeks, baby’s movements stopped and I had an emergency c-sec

^ Same as SaadiB (although my little one was a girl). The risk of c-section is because of the fear/or actual lack of oxygen to the baby thus heart rate dropping. If they suggest a c-section it’s because they think it’s the safest and quickest method of delivery.
Usually you are monitored more if they discover cord around a baby’s neck. Have you got a follow up appointment?
Your post has made me so stressed… we only get single ultrasound in 18th week here in sweden so i am not going to get any now.. what should i do. my midwife will never get me one even if i insist … i hope if its the case they get to know in 18th week u/s
Re: cord around the baby’s neck
For the rest of your pregnancy probably the important think to do is keep track of baby’s movements, if you feel they have slowed considerably or stopped that is cause for alarm. Also during checkups, the doctor or midwife should be able to hear baby’s heartbeat via fetal Doppler.
