I would like to take the opportunity to announce that we do receive requests to remove pictures on a daily basis and when we do, we remove them promptly. However, photos that are freely available on the Internet (let’s say via a Google search), are public property and can be copy and pasted anywhere. If that has ever happened, the member has been warned or notified. That is why social network sites have privacy options. I don’t think our members steal private pictures and post them on public sites. This website isn’t what it is for the number of years it’s been around if we didn’t follow legal guidelines and if the admin team wasn’t serious about their responsibilities. Gupshup isn’t a cheap website started by some lonely software consultant who was trying to kill time while looking for a job. The infrastructure and functioning of this website is more detailed than anyone can think.

i agree, i've seen pictures up of at least 3 different friends of mine (wedding dresses in the wedding forum) and most times I'm not even sure if they know!

just because someones put up pictures n facebook doesn't mean theyre YOUR property now, that person let you see them but not so that you can show them to the whole world...

That is right sourskittle, but again, if I am so concerned about my pictures, I'd really make sure my settings are private so no Tom Dick or Harry can use them. I don't think people post pictures of others to belittle them or edit them but to make them as part of a discussion just because they were readily available, and in instances where a person doesn't want them up, we are always happy to remove them.

Does this site have no policies on copyrights and abuse? Members on this forum keep posting pictures from people’s facebook profiles and no matter how many times the owner of the original content registers their concern via ‘contact us’ section or individually sending messages to users; no action is taken…

If this doesn’t stop, I’d have to report you guys to PSEB/FIA department that handles this issue. The site Admins now have exactly 48 hours to get their act together before hell breaks on them.

This isn’t just a threat… wait and see!

I agree with you Niksik but because a GS member is unhappy and has complaint, I think its the mods' job to warn and tell people that it shouldn't happen rather than defending yourself. I think we already know you guys do a good job. A complaint is a complaint.

I think we have addressed the complaint but it is also our right to defend ourselves as we are fully aware of the situation and legalities. If you read our published policies you will see that we have already addressed this issue quite a few times. We have policies as stickies above all our sections and the one concerning photos is also up there. :) Unfortunately a lot of people like complaining without doing their homework.

I completely agree… if you are that concerned about your privacy why make them available to public in the first place, keep it to yourself or friends only. how many sites you will go to report or threat for YOU yourself making your photos available to public.

This is completely ridiculous and stupid.
