How to become a recognized Fashion designer in Pakistan – in 7 Easy Steps

  1. Go to Sunday Bazaar.
2.Get last year’s magazine of any international Fashion Week.
3.While you are at it, also buy some fabrics from there.
4.Find the designs you would like to rip off, Oh! I mean you come up with.
  2. Try and link up with any of those Maasi(Maid)- tailors as they charge almost next to nothing for sewing clothes.
6.Modify the designs you like in the magazine (My Bad! You came up with), but make sure you don’t alter it too much.
7.Voila! Now you‘re a designer and ready to show off your collection at any fashion show or lawn exhibition “winks”.

I know most designers are not 100% creative on their own they do get creative ideas from other places, countries and cultures but still…not sure what to think…

Re: copy or coincedence?

omg! i'm sure that happens and people in pakistan/india think they can get away with it, because they live in different countries....wow! im shocked...and people bow down to designers like Sana Safinaz thinking it's a "designer"exclusive label...this is crazy

Re: copy or coincedence?

this type of blue and white print / embroidery combination is quite old and common in india / pakistan... i think specially in kashmiri region ... so I don't think its a blatant copy on the whole. Its just the small patch of artwork that seems to be lifted off... the part where it forms a circle of some sort... unless that too is a common eastern print like the paisley !!!

Re: copy or coincedence?

I remember aishwarya rai's dhoom outfit the orange top with blue beads was a designer copy of a western swimsuit i think, not 100% sure. i'd have to google it for a bit but that's when designers started to outcry at how desi designers were taking too much inspiration from their work.

copy or coincedence?

That blue and white print is actually quite old. Definitely saw something similar in mums wardrobe one time!
