Coping with rejection

A close girl friend of mine met a guy through family and they started talking. But she is VERY shy and had a hard time opening up. Didn’t really know how to talk to him, especially for marriage. So she would keep quiet mostly while he did the talking. The guy took this as a sign that maybe she’s not interested and backed off. He called her to say that he didn’t want to force her into anything and they should move on. Literally a minute before he said this, she was going to say that she’s willing to take it forward. But after he suggested they move on, she felt awkward and agreed even though she was actually interested. Ever since then, she has had a hard time looking into any other rishta. She’s comparing every guy to this first one. And all of them fall short.

How do you cope with being rejected by a rishta that you liked? Someone who fits your ideal guy image but you might not fit his? Is it normal to start imagining your life with a guy even though nothing is confirmed?

How do you look into a rishta without letting your feelings get in the way?

Re: Coping with rejection

Sounds like a character and scene out of a Pakistani drama. Just take it in your stride and believe that something better is in store for you. How old is she? Tell her to stop comparing, there is no way to know unless you have lived with them after getting married. Maybe the other dude was drop dead gorgeous but could not give her the respect she deserves as a wife. Who knows?

Life is more than just one guy. People lose their loved ones after living with them for decades. You don't end your life with them, you have to move on.

You get over it and you move on. Time heals.
