Copeing with college

I’ve just started college. And i’m finding it so hard to cope with all the work. Do any of u guys have any tips on how to cope with college. I will be very grateful. Thanks:)

Re: Copeing with college

hmmm,

1)find cliffs notes,
2)make some parhakoo friends who will do your assignments for you,
3)do some research on profs and get the easiest profs. I mean why take a hardass for a philosophy class if you are majoring in math, get the easy A, or B, you will have the rest of your life to read philosophy if you so choose,
4)have excuses handy,

hey dont study hard, study smart, focus on courses that really mean something and fluff like lifetime fitness or art history, find every single way to do the least but get good grades.

yeah yeah unconventional advice, i know, but I think you will get the same ol boring prioritize, organize, work hard, be punctual type of stuff from everyone else.

jsut make a set schedule

Re: Copeing with college

As someone else already mentioned, it's always good to do research on professors and find "easy" ones.

You didn't mention how many classes you're taking. But if you're starting off as a full-time student, then maybe you need to switch to being a part-time student, that way you have time to catch up and settle into "college life". Then after a semester or two, become a full-time student again.

Re: Copeing with college

Pick a topic you are genuinely interested in for your major. No use in being miserable with a topic that is at the most, mildly stimulating. Gotta find something to be passionate about - all else falls into place.

Re: Copeing with college

get organized......and stay organized. Makes things less complicated. Make study buddies...read ur chapters on time.....study for exams days in advance not the night before....organize ur class schedule so that ur not taking all hard classes in one quarter...or semester....mix hard and easy classes...

Re: Copeing with college

join a sorority, fraternities and sororities maintain an entire library of quizzes ans tests the prof has given. Usualy these profs are so bsy that the choose from teh same pool and recycle questions.

In my college fraternity, we had prof rankings, entire profiles going back years, how easy how tough, who took a class with the prof, prof assessment, blank and or graded quizzes and exams.

not all sororities and fraternities have this, but many do :) its public knowledge

If the college you are attending teaches in English, a remedial spelling course might help with your cop*e*ing.

c'mon man take it easy on the kid

Re: Copeing with college

j/k, my spelling isn't the best either. I'm just pointing out the irony between the subject and subject title.

Soundless Angel,
Congratulations on starting college. This is absolutely going to be the best time in your life. All you need to care about is work hard and make the best of your time while at college.
[FONT=Times New Roman][size=3]Depending on your major, and focus on academic excellence, you will do just fine, as long as you pay attention to your professors, college rules and expectations for getting straight As.
You can have a wonderful but balanced social aspect to your college years as well. You don’t have to be a book worm in any way. But, make sure that you take a good course load of (15to18 +) credits, and study hard. If you are on campus and are sharing dorm room with a couple of other kids, you need to be careful in sharing the responsibilities of working in the living space that you share.

Going to the college library is important if you are used to studying carefully and alone to avoid any distractions.

Your side interests and also half time work (if you have to work as work study), will help you steam off, from the pressure of exams. You can take a major and a minor, that can help you land at a bigger job pool, when you graduate. Taking an internship when you are in your junior year is a very good idea.

Know that you can make your college years as beneficial for your self, as you would work for that to be realized. If you plan on taking lesser courses and working for more hours, you can do that too, but you have to do it carefully, as not to delay your graduation.

Good luck.
