Re: COOKING vs. Gender
I think women just try not to fit the "gharvali" mold. They want to be modern and someone is capable of more than just cooking and cleaning. Sometimes they just take it a bit far.
I know how to cook but just basic things like daal, rice, chai, ec. I go to the household section and the recipes and dishes look SO amazing I cant wait to get married and start trying them on my husband.
He will be a fat cow in no time! LOL
Re: COOKING vs. Gender

thats the why i felt about cooking b4 i was married...and i think thats the way for most girls, they do not feel the need to cook or learn how to cook pre-marriage, paka pakaya ghar mein mil jata hai, so why do it unless u have to
If our elders associates it with AGLA GHAR - why can’t you try to change this thinking?? And even if its for Agla Ghar then wats the big deal?? or does cooking style get changed when u go to agla ghar? ![]()
You can fry an egg - so no i wasnt picking on u ![]()
Ok, I understand your point. But my question to then doesn’t it get tough when you get married and the norm is most [not all] in-laws expect you to know how to cook?? So, isn’t it better to already know how to cook little bit before your in-laws bombard you with list of things of what to cook and how to coook. But thats totally a different issue.
My question: put all that thinking of agla ghar and reason of gettin paka pakaya food at home - still how many of you would like to cook just for fun? By cooking I don’t say cook hot shot desi food, infact it can be anything.
Re: COOKING vs. Gender
Gendered Cooking is so 20.5th century ![]()
The guys buy the food, the ladies cook it, and then everyone eats it. That’s tha lyfe!
Re: COOKING vs. Gender

well as someone pointed out earlier in the thread that cooking is not exactly rocket science (or something to that effect), so when u gotta do it, u gotta do it...i mean unless someone makes it an issue or something, thats different.
i think the MOST important factor, regardless of gender, is that u gotta love food in order to really enjoy cooking... :) if u enjoy food (and eating!) cooking's always fun
Re: COOKING vs. Gender
Maybe there is a deeper meaning to the phrase " I cant cook". Maybe the person is saying that I am not ready for marriage.
Hai Allah, Tum kitni zaheen larki ho Lois. Main tumhara garweeda ho gaya hoon ![]()
^ kitna bewaqoof aadmi hai ye , qasam se ![]()
is this thread for discussion or Lois you are justifying your recent cooking lessons to yourself..? ![]()
PS: oh aglai ghar ki tayari shuru hu gayee.. :shoaby:
