what’s canola? is it an American thing?

Re: Cooking Oil

We use canola oil for everyday cooking, and frying. We have extra virgin olive oil too and this usually is only used by me to make a healthier recipe.

Re: Cooking Oil

it’s also called Rapeseed oil.

Re: Cooking Oil

This is what my pantry looks like for cooking oils, this is gonna sound weird but I am an oil person, and love experimenting with different flavours

Everyday cooking: sunflower, canola or vegetable oil
Chinese: sesame oil
Deep frying: peanut oil
Salad dressings: olive oil, grape seed oil
Pastas: truffle oil or herb infused oils
Popcorn: coconut oil (believe it or not it’ll be the best popcorn ever)

Re: Cooking Oil

Re: Cooking Oil

Dietitions say that no cooking oil is healthy no matter which one do you use.

anyhow, my mom uses sunflower oil

Re: Cooking Oil

^^^ true

Olive oil is the healthiest for you, but Italians say once you add heat to olive oil all the goodness disappears so it’s best to eat it ‘uncooked’ i.e. drizzled over salads or something

Re: Cooking Oil

Wonder how food will taste without cooking oil esp salaans…
is there any other way to bhoonify masala? I use very little to no oil in my cooking anyway.

Re: Cooking Oil

hahaha…tab to phir vo desi salan nahiiN hogaa…yeh to kuchh aur hii hogaa…no tel no desi saalan!

Re: Cooking Oil

Sunflower oil is good to use for high heat cooking e.g to “bhoonoffy salans”. olive oil should not be used for this.
