Re: Cooking meat in a pressure cooker

I found this:Chicken biryani's recipe wohooooo

When i put it in the cooker pressure-do i need to add any water to the mixture??

**Lamb Curry:

**Marinate lamb with yoghurt and crushed green chillies + salt overnight in the fridge. Next day, in a pot, heat some oil, and start frying two thinly sliced onions ...

when browned , add in the ginger garlic paste, one tsp each ... and then the lamb.
Keep the flame medium-high and let it bhuno for at least 20-25 minutes .. if it sticks to the pan, give it a splash ofwater and continue bhuno'ing.

then add two to three tomatoes ( you can blend them in the blender ) and let it be on medium flame for 5 minutes ... finally tip this entire stuff in the pressure cooker and leave it on for 30 minutes ...

The meat will become super tender .. the gravy will become concentrated and the oil will be floating on top, which you can spoon out if you re health conscious.

Garnish with corriander and some more green chilli if you like it spicy ;)

Tabu, definitely add water in the pressure cooker ... or else it will all burn out ... lamb takes its sweet time to get cooked .. so we try to bhoon it really well before adding any water so that its smell goes away ...

once bhooning is done, add the required water that you like for the gravy and put it on the pressure...

Re: Cooking meat in a pressure cooker

thanks! Would 2 mugs of water be enough...dnt want it to dry out..if theres extra water i can always cook it on high heat to get rid of it right?

Re: Cooking meat in a pressure cooker

Tabu , depends.. how much gravy do you like in the salan?

As a rule of thumb, just ensure that the water level is about 2 inches higher then the meat , in the pressure cooker.. every PC is different .. in my previous one, I realized I lose about one and a half glass of water in 30 minutes pressure .. in my current one I lose one glass water in 30 minutes ..
