Cooking Kidney Beans???

Hi, can anyone tell me how to cook kidney beans, (I think it is also called potay ki daal)..as in a salan? I love the taste of these but have just never got round to cooking them myself.

Any help is much appreciated..thanks!

If you are talking about the red kidney beans, then you cook them pretty much loke channey ka salan... fry onions, garlic ginger and add tomatoes and regular masalas. Stir in boiled or canned kidney beans, add water and cook until gravy reaches desired consistency.

This is the easiest dish out there. I make it exactly like Niksik described except for onions after being told by a friend that you don't necessarily need em.

So I just fry some garlic, add tomatoes, ginger and spices (try achaar gosht masala instead of regular spices if you want), wait till tomatoes are tender then add canned beans. Serve with boiled rice, salad and mint chutney.

ALWAYS ensure the kidney beans r well cooked, meaning soft in the middle and skin, bcos any raw part of the kidney bean contains toxins that are very poisonous if ingested.

Oh I forgot to say after adding beans also add some water and let it cook for a while.

The salad ones r still cooked, but cold. U can have them cold as long as they r well cooked.
