Ok so it summer and i am free for now…and since my parents are thinking about getting me married soon (Inshallah) i have had this feeling that i should know how to cook something so that i don’t go to my husbands house with only a degree :s - i keep on noting down recipes from all types of cookery shows but i dont have the confidence to go in there (in the kitchen) and make something…not ready or whatever i dont know but i dont know where my mother keeps the spices and all and its not setup according to my convenience…so should i go for cooking classes to get used to cooking?
Does anyone know of any good cooking classes in Mississauga? I have contacted a few but unfortunately some of them are full and some of them are totally for whites (and i can’t touch haram stuff) and some of them are for chefs to be where they will take exams etc…HELP PLEASE..
Re: Cooking/ Baking Classes....?
well I know in my college..they are having cooking classes as continuing education classes..and most of them are like only a day or two long.
If you are wanting to learn how to cook DESI FOOD your mom should be the perfect source. Now if you are learning how to handel stuff..just practice a lot on your own in ur kitchen start out with making little things like cakes brownies. These are not very time consuming but you get to handel a lot of thing and you also learn how to clean up after yourself.
Re: Cooking/ Baking Classes....?
I actually want to learn fancy stuff...like baking, pastas, deserts etc...yeah i can ask my mother to tell me how to cook desi stuff...good idea...i hope she has the time..whenever i ask her if i can help or cook she is always like, i am not making anything special today but when i do i will ask you to assist me and always forgets :s
nowadays..tvs r loaded with so much cooking shows..if u dont find some show then its on www.vidpk.com...u r lucky that u r with ur mom..she can help u out...its ur duty to indulge not ur mother's to ask u plz help me..mothers don't need our help..when i wanted to learn i was used to ask my mother...yeh ub kia dala hai..kitna dalna hai...she used to say bhoon lo..i used to ask bhoonna kia hota hai? taail nathur aye..isska kia mutlub hai? mutlub little thing su can ask ur mom..she is herself a cooking class for u..about the things that u dont know where they r placed.. once u note down a recipe u can show the ingredients to ur mom...she wud place them on the counter for u...just start with a simple recipe...its upto u what u think is simple...if u want to make something continental then nowadays farah,rida,rahat..they teach so well ..u dont need any cooking classes...! just learn from ur mom and tv...good enough:)
baki traditional foods aisee hain k hur ghar mai bunti hain..pulao biryani zarda kheer korma...daal yeh seekh lo slowly slowly..method to hur ek ka almost same he hota hai..just little variations..aur new dish bunjati hai..
Re: Cooking/ Baking Classes…?
Sometimes chefs at different restaurants give some workshops in the summer. I dont know about your area, but maybe what you can try to do is check with your local newspaper if they have a food columnist and write to him/her and ask about cooking classes. They should generally know what is available
And I agree with uetian! Moms are not only the best chefs and cooking classes -they are the best universities ![]()
