I wish i could help you with that one .. but unfortunately i dont know anything about Lahore :(

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

Check Classified Ads page of the News on Sunday - I have heard Samira Shahzad’s classes are great !

here’s her site !

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

I have heard of Samira Shehzad & in fact talked to her as well but the problem with her classes is that she gets the ingredients herself and demostrates instead of making the students make stuff themselves. Students can only write notes, i dont see much of a point in them if i cant make them myself.

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

how dumb is that .. why would she not let the students learn properly , its not like they arent paying for the learning :naraz: … Daffy, you took a wise decision buddy …

Dont the famous cooks like chef Zakir and others give any classes?

Daffy , if nothing else works , go on to you tube and start making dishes , believe me you will learn tonns of things that way … I learnt so much , cant even begin to tell you ..

and one more thing, GS will be able to help you much too, just tell us what you are attempting to make and inshallah we will help you get through it all :@:

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

Yeah there is no point in going. I could better watch TV and learn instead of that :naraz: I am okay with youtube links as well.

Anyway, thanks a lot for helping me out. I know basics of some items like making chicken, keema, ..

But the problem is that expectations are that i become a hi-fi sort of cook. I am right now near the basic level and i need to learn from what is available in Pakistan easily. I need to learn:

Desi: Biryani, Chicken Karahi, all types of veges & daals, Haleem, Hareesa, Chicken Ginger, Chicken Handi, Chicken jalfrezi, Seekh kabab, Shami kabab, etc. you know the details ..

Chinese foods like: Chicken with Pineappple sauce, Thai Sweet and Sour, Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Chicken Schezuan

Baking: Pastries, Cake, Pizza, Mousse etc

Continental: Garlic Bread, Russian Salad, Potato Salad, etc

**Desserts!
**

Before anything, i need confidence that i can cook. Apparently, i am losing confidence due to the high expectations i feel i am going to mess up :frowning:

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

Ok , first come first ... I want you to know that cooking is not rocket science ... it seems so complicated door sai , but you will realize when you get into the nitty gritty of things ki its like algebra ... you just need to know the basic formula and once you know them , you can solve any problem , that is , make any dish ...

There are a few threads here where I have written detailed notes on how to do the basic masala in desi dishes ... once you learn that , half your problem is sorted :@:

There is a thread called "the biginners guide" .. I will search up the link and post here .. read it carefully and lets start you on the basics first .. you decide what dish you want to make first and I will give you detailed tips of how to handle it , then come back and ask any questions / mistakes that happened .. and you will learn inshallah in no time at all ...

And remember .. perfect cooks ko bi umar lag gayi bi seekhne mai .. you cant learn everything in a day ... so dont get overwhelmed by the experts .. you will be one of them soon inshallah ...

I will wait for you to tell me what dish you wanna make first .. my recommendation is simple chicken karhai ....

what say?

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

I’ll get 1 kg of chicken today :biggthumb:

Re: Cooking/Baking classes in Lahore

excellent ... i will write up a really simple recipe for you ... and am opening a separate thread so you can come to it and write all you want in there .. theekh?
