Converting video files to play on iPod

Any recommendations for converting video files into the latest iPod? I am looking at the following page:

And am kinda debating between AVS Video Tools 5.6.1 or Xilisoft iPod Video Converter. Or may be there is a better software out there. AVS seems to be the most downloaded, but the reviews kinda suggest that the software stops working at the end of the year (etc).

I have a lot of movies stored in my computer as DVD (Audio_TS and Video_TS) format. I will like to move them to the iPod for viewing in flights etc. I also plan to add something like a Myvu Personal Media Player for the complete movie experience.

But first things first. Recommendations for a good video converter. Any ideas folks?

^ collecting movies from bit torrent sites is Haram, as such, should be removed from a muslim's digital system immediately.

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

PSPvideo9 converts the video files of almost any format to MPEG4 to play on PSP.

That is also (i think) the same format IPOD uses.

Try that.. its free

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

^ I think iPod uses MP4 format. Let me check PSPvideo9

Kaleem.. I have never used bit torrent. I just back up my own DVD's to my computer; and now want to move them to iPod

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

PSPvideo9 seems to convert from most video formats; but the online documentation does not indicate if it converts from DVD format (Audio_TS and Video_TS folders). Need to check that before committing to it.

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

^^ it can .. I did that ...

tarnsfered some videos out of Video_TS folder to MP4

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

You can also try Handbrake (Here’s a tutorial).

I’ve been eyeing the Myvu for about 6 months now and just ordered it 2 days ago. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. I got the universal version as I don’t have an iPod. (got the Zen Vision).

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

Let me know how Myvu works for you. I am debating between that and iWear for iPod.

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

Virtual Dub. My new favorite program. A little complicated but most sophisticated sofwatre for a freeware.

Re: Converting video files to play on iPod

Personally I liked (by specs and reviews) Myvu firstly cuz it costs less, second that you are not totally blocked from the surroundings (other than the screen the material is transparent) and thirdly because its more comfortable.

I'll let you know when it comes in as to what i think about it after using it.
