The word is "FOLLOW"
Convert is not the right word here.
Yes people do change some sunni people start following shia teachings.
And there must be some shia who start following sunni teachings.

One of my friend's mother was a shia Azeri Iranian, and his dad was a sunni kurdish iranian.

His mother became sunni to be more acceptable to his dad's family. Though he said it was more of a labelling change than actual change of convictions.

I know an Iranian guy from my local mosque, who converted from Shia to Sunni, but all his family in US and Iran abandoned him.

well my friend is now following sunni teachings ... but unfortunately his family abandoned him ...

well we have to keep an open mind when it comes to religion .. we dont have to pounce upon a child's mind that this sect is good that is bad .. let himself know what is wrong and what is right ..... i think parents should be there to teach their chidern the basics of islam not sectism ... and let him choose the teachings that he finds flawless .:D give him guidance with an open mind .. the problem is that ppl are so bossy :D

my family started to follow Shia school, before we were sunni. To me there is not heck of a difference as both have same roots and both wiish to follow same personalities. Just minor differences over the history which is normal
