Ok now you’re ticking the ladies of this forum off left and right by making such claims
Re: Convert and new Pakistani in laws.
Errrr Pakistanis are Caucasian too.
Incase you didn't know...
Re: Convert and new Pakistani in laws.
I have a little bit of experience with this. I'm a Pakistani guy who married a Caucasian American girl. My parents didn't like her, for no obvious reason. My mom wasn't as extreme as your MIL to be seems to be but they were pretty cold to her. I didn't like it and I explained to my parents respectfully that the decisions is mine and does not affect them.
I spent the first years of our marriage distanced from my parents letting them know that if they were going to be distant with my wife then they will have to do the same with me, we are a packaged deal. After a year or two they came around and now, 14 years later, they treat her like a daughter, more than a daughter.
I guess the message is that Pakistani people of that generation have a particular mindset that needs to be overcome with shock, talking to them reasonably doesn't change their thinking, action, they need action! They are not bad or evil people, just ignorant.
I hope things work out for you. The key in fixing these issues is your husband to be, HE needs to step up.
