CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

is it something you only learn from the world or your family and home, first?

how is it, that these days, children and young women or men, have at times, very disappointingly bad conversational manners, choice of words and intonation?

what is missing? & how can it be corrected?

share if you like.

Re: CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

it boils down to education, choices in work and choices availability, people generally converse differently, from peers families to closed ones.

Re: CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

I beg to differ, regarding education

Its our society in general and that person's social setup in specific.

I remember, Peons from 20-25 years ago, in my father's college. The way they use to talk, I think that today, a masters from Karachi univ. does not talk like that

Re: CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

I think a lot depends on what you read and the people you associate with.

Re: CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

I deduce that you are refering to mostly expatriates. I can understand your concerns. But i can not relate to your experience. In my experience here in pakistan Women, girls very rarely behave this way. They dont express themselve in impolite fashion. ( except the burgers :stuck_out_tongue: )

Politeness of Kids and men depends on surrounding and upbringing :chai:

Re: CONVERSATIONAL MANNERS, CHOICE OF WORDS & INTONATION.

thanks, everybody.
all perspectives make sense. it is perhaps bringng all these pieces together. and enabling young people to have a proper language intact with presence of manners and a real sense of meaningfulness when they talk/speak.

filler words, cursing, excessive repetition, self agg*****zement, a sense of being know all, chopping senstences by others, especially elders, parents, teachers and so forth. is not what suits anyone, especially youth from any back ground.

we should do our best in teaching young people how to talk nicely.
