Controversial question - double standards

You know when you hear of stories about say an old grandfather sexually abusing his own grand daughter or some other person in the family and it’s all covered up etc the normal response is “how the hell can someone cover up a crime like that?”

Now before any of you get offended, it’s just a question…

What if the same thing happened to your family…i.e. say your grandfather did the same thing to someone else in the family and it got leaked say 3 years after he died.

Would people refuse to believe it based on “how could our grandfather ever do something like that” or would you perhaps think “maybe he did do it”

There is a person I know whose name i wont mention but the same thing happened to him. His mother complained that his grandfather made unwelcoem advances on her but the whole family refused to believe her and instead felt sorry for the old man.. who do you believe? do you blindly refuse to acknolwedge that it may have happened or do you leave some room for doubt in your minds???

Re: Controversial question - double standards

^^ is this your psych. class project or something....
either that or you are a pervert....

Re: Controversial question - double standards

I think most people would refuse to believe it up front, especially if the person (in this case the grandfather) has passed away, but would most likely still have some sort of doubt.

Personally though, I would probably believe it. People aren't always the way we think they are.

Re: Controversial question - double standards

how is he the perverted one? stuff like what he described happens quite often... he's just merely asking a question...

Re: Controversial question - double standards

Typical…

You see thats what I mean, denial, double standards,

I merely asked the question based on true facts and of knowing someone who went through the same thing…your answer just proves what I was saying was all true…

Re: Controversial question - double standards

Confront him if he is alive, If he is dead who cares!

Re: Controversial question - double standards

^.. cause aunty ji is a female, thus you made up your mind that "Confront baba" as if he is a culprit !.

If baba is saying he is innocent and aunty ji is saying she was molested, in either way i wont pass my verdict. Because, just sayings are not enough to judge someone. And we should not believe in someones story as if its true unless we have seen it happening.

The best i would suggest is not to speculate, Allah is the judge of ALL. Pray to him to punish whoever is the culprit.. simple. We can not go back in time and make things happen correct. But surely can pray.
Even if you know that such thing did happen, what worse can you do ? worse then what Allah is gonna do to him/her ?

Re: Controversial question - double standards

so u're saying that the woman should just live with the fear of it happening again cos nobody believes her? u dont think anything should be done about it?

Re: Controversial question - double standards

Pakistani culture is messed up in many ways. Everyone has 'izzat' issues so anything even if it's the so called truth is hidden and buried as long as 'other people' don't think bad of you, you can rape/abuse/torture behind closed doors.

Sick.
