Contrast

Where are my beloved’s lips
Where the sorrows of my heart?
Never shall they come to grip
They are worlds apart

In the same bazar you find
Berries red and rubies too,
Yet in essence and in kind
There’s no common clue

Vastly sensual desire
Rooted in a stomach’s well
Diffes from love’s holly fire
In a dimple’s dell

Look for lewdness in the lewd,
Hermits hide to seek a cure,
Never look for widowhood
In a maiden pure

Fools are putting to the knife
For the world religious faith,
Bartering eternal life
For five dismal days

In contentment find your peace,
Greediness a man depraves,
Where is Egypt’s land of ease,
Where the town of slaves

There is no community
Of the hermit and the khan
How should Aziz Khan agree
With ABDURRAHMAN?
