You will make money in contracting vs full time since the employer has to pay full benefits which means less money to be paid in Salary. A lot of the folks that I know who are contractors do it for this reason.

calculate your effective rate based on your salary. do some google search and you'll get some sites with more info. Once you have that effective rate, add another 10% may be to cover 7.5% SS tax you'll now be paying yourself that usually employer pays. take other things into account like any other medical/vacation benefits not considered in effective rate. also keep in mind you'd have to pay estimated quarterly tax which is extra work etc.
As a contractor I can change my job anytime I want. That's why I don't like going full time.
Full time pays benefits but taking time off as contractor I find easy ;)
And the employer can let you go anytime too.
I guess if you are single, or a newly married couple, and don’t mind moving from one city to another, then contract is great cause it pays more in most of the fields, but not in every field.

contract par hourly tankhwa milti hai.. jabkay holiday, medical insurance aur paid time off jaisi fawaed nahi miltay...
full time hoany main appko pto, medical insurance jaisay faiday miltay.. appki pay kam hoti hai.. laikin employer medical insurance main contribute kar raha hota hia.... pto dey raha hota hia...
