Contouring

I’m interested in learning how to do contouring makeup.

Any youtube tutorials, advice here, and product recommendations?

So far I use only this very occasionally and LOVE it…what else would I need?

Re: Contouring

I use Too Faced’s matte bronzer and I absolutely love it.
I don’t like the bronzers that are shimmery or too glittery so I opted for this one. There is a less expensive alternative by Rimmel London that is also matte.

I’ve used both and they are really nice. You can also opt to use a darker foundation and just blend that in - some makeup artists do this as well. So it’s really up to you.

There’s a lot of good youtube videos on how to contour.
Check out Nur’s videos on how to contour, she’s absolutely amazing at explaining it and also one of my personal favs.

Re: Contouring

It works wonders to help you shape your face the way you want.
I just use different shades of foundation and blend in the end to achieve the look I want.

This is one of my favourite videos that I learned from:

Re: Contouring

Its not so much product as it is placement so your first step is to learn to place your product correctly.

Once you nail that you can invest in better products.

Learn to follow the natural angles of your face to find the spot where you will "cut" or sculpt your cheekbones to contour.

GOSS is excellent. I also find Pinterest fulllll of ideas on contouring tutorials that are super helpful.

The easiest way to start contouring is simply using darker/lighter foundations and a beauty blender.

OH and Anastasia's contour palette is awesome.

Re: Contouring

I second Reha. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is phenomenal. As a starter, I'd recommend you use powder contour rather than liquids or creams. Powder contour is much easier to place and blend in the right way whereas liquid and cream takes a lot of practice to get right. Sleek also do a fab contour kit, that is what I use on a daily basis as I contour quite heavily and it is a quality product for a good price.

A good contour brush is also key to getting contouring right!
