Alright guys, I am going to post my problem which I haven’t been able to solve. I have tried researching it every where. XDA forums, other hardware forums but no success.
So i recently got Dell XPS 9530 with windows 8.1. The problem is that whenever I plug in my Android device (I have tried Sony Xperia, HTC One M8, Samsung S6) it keeps disconnecting. The problem exist with BlackBerry Classic, Passport and even Z10.
I have tried updating my drivers, different cables and what not, but the connection isn’t consistent. I have got my laptop’s motherboard replaced twice, got my laptop replaced once and the problem is still there.
Thats not the only weird part, if i plug in any portable harddisk, it works fine so i believe it has something to do with Android MTP protocol ? But then why BlackBerry’s connection isn’t persistent ?
Anyways, If you guys have any thoughts or been there done that then let me know.
I have not used windows 8.1 much, but does it have a power saving mode/profile? Could it be it shuts down usb, for lack of activity? hard disk stays up, coz there is continuous activity and it never really 'times out'.
Sometimes MTP also gives out if your phone screen gets locked. Try to increase the lock time.
Hmm, I can try that but i guess the answer would be same what i gave to @OYMWA.

thats not the case, since it even happens when i have my phone held in my hands while browsing some apps. The disconnection is continuous.
Try different USB port? Upgrade BIOS? If problems till persists, it probably has a bad USB header or bad motherboard.
Its not a windows 8 issue.
I have tried all ports (usb2.0 and 3.0) both which are on my laptop and the problem is there. I got my laptop's mother replaced twice and now getting the laptop replaced (twice again) :(
