Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

Err you've got to give the thread a nudge Philosophy. This Albanian-Lebanese doesn't know where to go with that.

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

Blue vs Navy Blue vs Sky Blue.

?

Will add my thoughts later.

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

Philosophy, you do need to say something otherwise every thread in this section can be started with similar words (synonyms or antonyms).

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

The first two lead to the third. It becomes easy to seek refuge in complacency when it becomes clear that contentment and happiness are of an illusory nature.

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

I do not know how many would agree, but here is my two cents. :)

All three are part of vicious circle, individuals as well as nations may get caught into.

Deficiency ... develops desire
Desire ... develops demand
Demand ... develops urge
Urge ... develops struggle
Struggle ... develops abundance
Abundance ... develops ease
Ease ... develops contentment
Contentment ... develops happiness
Happiness ... develops complacency
Complacency ... develops deficiency
Deficiency ... develops

And ... then the cycle continues (for individuals if life is long enough) unless once deficiency comes in life that develops desires, many instead of following the vicious circle, may die waiting for miracles to fulfil that desire (Pakistani voters ... and most who are deep into religion), or instead of struggle gets into short cuts of wrongs (Pakistani politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, and other crooks in society) ... That starts a new cycles for them different from above`.

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

Re: contentment vs. happiness vs. complacency

how on earth is that logical??

But then, for vast majority of people in this world and all nations, it is only when they struggle (work hard, strive) to make their conditions better, they develop resources (due to their struggle, strive or hard work) and get/achieve abundance (plenty).
