Contempt Case Verdict

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

Retire Justice Wajiuddin was interviewed a few minutes earlier by AAJ News too, he said the conviction does mean he is disqualified. But he can of course appeal this decision.

So confusing.

Given the Govt.'s standing on issues, lack of moral standing, inability to gracefully resign indicates if PM is not automatically disqualified, wouldn't be surprised if he continues as PM.

Wouldn't be surprised if he resigns either. Same sub-par performance, different face. Nothing changes.

Business as usual for Pakistani. Our political nautanki running strong... Meanwhile, the world laughs and mocks us. Do we deserve it, Yes we do!

This was a joke & egg is on the SC's face. What's next?

The premier was convicted and sentenced under Article 63 (1) (g) of the constitution.

9:50 am: A visibly dejected prime minister, accompanied by his sons, after hearing the verdict shook hands with his team and members of the federal cabinet.

10:11 am: A meeting of the federal cabinet will commence at 11:30. At 2:00pm, a meeting of allied parties will start at the president’s house.

10: 13 am: Federal minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said that a petition would be filed in the court for a review of the verdict. She moreover said that further course of action would be decided once the detailed verdict is received.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

A whole 2 minutes of punishment. Walking on eggshells...afraid to make a sound. Very disappointing.

Now the verdict will be appealed, that will stretch for a few more months, and then appeal will be appealed, and so on and so forth.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

WOW WOW WOW another shaheed :rotfl:

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

I think they have given him a symbolic punishment. that is good enough for shaming any respectable person. unfortunately our "leaders" dont fall into that category.
morally he should resign. but i am sure he wont.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

Who gives a damn what a retired judge has to say? What matters is the decision of the SC and the reasons that they cite.

See that is the problem. There has been a much more expeditious media trail going on. Some of the media judges can't wait to hang the PM.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

by the way i think they should have put handcuffs on him to show his symbolic arrest.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

He was dejected because court refused to go give him what he was keenly longing and worked for — shahaadat. He wanted to be imprisoned for some months so that he and his party could use it for slogans. Even majority of PA member had votedfor a symbolic punishment like this.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

The shock here is not that he has not resigned. Any respectable leader would have done that. The shock here would have been if he had resigned now that he has been declared a criminal. Besharam log besharam hakumat.

Re: Contempt Case Verdict

Reaction and statements of AI has been disappointing. I am not surprised by the besharmi of PM. Whether or not he thinks the decsision is unfair, 'honourable' thing would be to resign. But i guess this h word is lost on this government.

Did you even read what “media judge” said? :hehe:
