…well, as some of you know i wear glasses
for past sometime i’m thinking about contact lenses…!
though i used to have a pair of soft ones …but then my number (for eye sight ) changed n i had to discontinue using 'em
now i tried to know which type of lenses r being offered right now …n i’ve a long list
can any of you tell me which are the best …i’m not going to buy overnight ones (i’m too afraid of risks) …but in daily care there is a variety …i mean some are for daily use n u dispose 'em off after single use …then some ae which can be disposed off after a week …n so
so what do you say …which are best …n also low in price …
I use clear contacts ..... the kind that you wear everyday for 3-6 months and then throw out. Actually, I think you are only supposed to use them for 3 months but I've been using the same pair for about a year and they work perfectly fine. :) You just have to clean them every night. I use the non-rubbing solution so it is a very simple procedure.
Mehnaz
I just went to my eye doc the other day.
They gave me this big lecture about overwearing of cantacts.
I was doing the same thing as you thinking it would be ok. I would wear my disposable ones for months instead of two weeks. They said I was a perfect candidate to develope eye ulcer.
And now my left eye is a bit irritated. I told them I wanted to get laser vision correction and they said I may not be a candidate for that because of what I was doing. Is liye mera mashwara hai kay start using them the way they are supposed to.
I hope Afia this gives u an early start on how to use your lenses properly.:)
hmm....no i'm too careful when it comes to anything about my eyes ...as i have inherited a poor eye sight n i think that itself is enough ...so no way i'm going to over wear 'em to cause another trouble :)
is there any such thing in lenses which can be bought just once .....i mean i can use them forever ...???
last time i got mine from netherlands ....n i remember the person there didn't mention i should throw them or not ....but he did sayb that i will have to come back for thorough cleaning (by professionals) evry 6 months .....so is it right ...???
n plus all my sisters n cousins in pakistan just got them once ....n they go for a new one only if one is lost or damaged or coz of change in number .....is it ok ...or simply carelessness ...???
Well the prescription for your contacts is valid for 1 yr while for the glasses its 2 yrs.
your no changed..i am assuming you came to know this after your check-up with ur doc. :~) normally ur doc should have prescribed you the brand too with the prescription. and if you would not have been comfortable with it s/he would have suggested another brand. [it could be different in europe] the most famous brand is accuvue and i believe thats the first brand which doc's go for.
your prescription comes from your doctor if something goes wrong..you can always sue them :-D ] but you can purchase the contacts from where ever you get the best offer.
in the u.s its best to buy from an online company which offers contacts at very competitive prices..nobody can beat them :~)
yeah and never wear your contacts [disposable] more then a month. why mess with ur eyes or even take a chance.
I use 1 month soft lenses. I pick them for a half year with plenty of solution and I'm good for the next 6 months. Find it very easy to use as I don't have to clean them.
I don't use the regular solution but benzoylperoxide, there is a naturialising stone in my lenskeeper, so that's how the lenses are cleaned.
I've never heard of permament lenses. In my opinion you should replace them every 6 months (at least) I used mine for over a year and it didn't do me eyes any good.
I use monthly disposable contact lenses too, every couple of months I wear my glasses for a bit to give my eyes a break. I've only just starting my contacts again recently as previously I was getting up through the night for Harris.I really want laser eye surgery though.....it would make life so much easier not having to fiddle around with solutions etc.
ps) if you do get them then be careful you don't accidentally drink them....its easier than it sounds!
disposables are the way to go. by they time they start accumulating gunk you toss em out and use a new pair. They are a litle more expensive than the year or 6 month ones but if you lose, or rip a lens, you always have replacement handy.
My sister had these lenses back in the 80's which were those u can wear while sleeping and continously for 6 months..messed up her eyes big time till she got daily wear ones where she took the lenses out before sleeping.
I have a horror story to share, in 95 i was so busy with some stuff, i had been up for 36 hrs plus and then zonked out with my lenses in. woke up in the middle of teh night cuz my eyes were burning, and took one lens out and ripped the other one out..except part of my eye came with it..seriously. Now it was not some big chunk but i ripped part of my cornea, thank god that it was on the outer edge and did not affect my vision. My eye was infected and I had to have surgery on it.
I use one month soft lenses. I have a scary story to tell. Once a lens disappeared in my eye. I was so scared, moved my eye ball around, turned my eyelid & thank God it finally appeared on my eye ball. I was so scared. Has it ever happened to anyone?
ohh godd i can’t wait to get laser surgery…i have been using contacts for more than 7 yrs now…really sick of them…i usually wear them more than 12 hours continously which i am not supposed to do.
Sajal let us know if u go through the procedure
Fraudz that was awful
anyone had experience with contact being stuck in the eye? …no matter what u do, use eye drops etc…it won’t come out. Few times i had to use twizer to pull it out from my eye. :o
Luke warm water has worked for me the times when the contact got stuck in my eye. And yes, I have lost a contact once but on the upper side of my eyeball. People be careful will ya! Its blind leading the blind
Those of u sleeping with ur contacts in, stop doing that.
I did that a lot over the past few years thnking nothing would happen.
But I have just been told u can seriously damage your eyes. And u only have two of them. So plz take care of your eyes ppl.
I will defenitely tell u guys how things go with laser if I do go thru with it.
actually all these posts double minded me ......should i get a pair for me or no...???
hmm....i think i will....but i'm sure all the horror stories narrated here will really make me careful ....thanx for that :)
as for laser treatment ....i'm too afraid of that ....n may be i'm wrong but i think its not an option for people like me ...who have poor eye sight due to inheritance ...:(
both of my parents have this problem ....n now all of us siblings too ...i was 3 when i started wearing glasses ....so i want to get contact lenses for a change ....n i'm not going to wear them everyday ....i think it will be like twice or thrice a month .....not sure though :)
but can anyone tell me ....are disposable contact lenses more costly or what (i mean those you dispose off after one use )....???
