Contact Lenses

So how many of you wear contact lenses and how long (at a time)? Doctors in Pak are very divided over their use so I thought I’d ask around here

Re: Contact Lenses

I do - Normally ranges between 14 - 16 hours. I have been told by doctors that they arent good either. I dont disagree with them because my number has in fact dropped by a complete 1.0 due to using them but the option of glasses is not appealing at all.

So now when i am at home, i always wears glasses and when i am out its the lenses.

Re: Contact Lenses

I used to wear them for over 16 hours, at times i forgot i had my lenses on and slept without taking them off.

It happened too often that i opted for Lasik.

Re: Contact Lenses

now you may buy contacts that you can sleep in too but experts advise against it. no matter how good they are and how greatly they breath, it's never a good idea to wear for more than 10 hours a day in one stretch.

Re: Contact Lenses

How could you guys keep them in 4 16 hours? Its almost impossible for me to go over 10...

Re: Contact Lenses

I wore them for almost 10 years.....12-16 hours per day.

Re: Contact Lenses

I've been wearing them (clear prescription ones, only ones I'll ever wear) since I was 13. I'm 20 now and will be getting Lasik soon, I think you have to be 20 in order to do it. Oh, and I wear glasses at home.

Re: Contact Lenses

I got Lasik done a few years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made... :)

Re: Contact Lenses

^^That is awesome! I have a lot of family members who got it done who keep insisting I do it as well. Cant wait to be glasses/contact free. :)

Re: Contact Lenses

I know this sounds like a weird question, but after getting Lasik, did any of you "miss" your glasses? I've been wearing them since I was 9, and I like the intellectual look glasses give me. However, wearing contacts does get tiring, and these days I'm really annoyed by the mark on my nose that the glasses frame keep leaving me. I want to get Lasik, but my glasses have become such a daily part of my identity I worry whether I'll miss them!

Re: Contact Lenses

I wore glass starting at 13 until I was 19. At 19, I started wearing contacts full time. And no, not for a single moment did I miss my glasses. (glasses left the "nose marks" and plus wearing eye makeup (especially on special events) was awful).

Contacts were a daily part of my "routine" until mid 20's, when I got lasik. And no, I don't miss contacts at all.

Being able to see clearly as soon as I wake up in the morning (or middle of the night!) is just an amazing feeling! I can't imagine returning to glasses or contacts after lasik.

Re: Contact Lenses

infact i'm wearin em right now and it been almost 16.5 hours

Re: Contact Lenses

So is Lasik safe?
Any side effects for anyone?
How much did it cost?

Re: Contact Lenses

i dont wear any of them ignoring the fact that my eyes r weak :bummer:

Re: Contact Lenses

Did the nose marks go away after a while?

Re: Contact Lenses

I've toyed with the idea of Laser eye surgery but so far I'm thinking no. When the actual people performing these procedures say they wouldn't have it done, I don't think I can risk it. My cousin's wife's went horribly wrong and she had to have a corneal transplant.

Re: Contact Lenses

^ This. Although the prospect of having perfect eyesight at all times is intriguing, to be honest.

Re: Contact Lenses

Just like EVERY medication out there...or EVERY medical procedure....Lasik also has potential risks. There are no guarantees. Heck even pregnancy/child birth has its "risks" and "side effects".

I know quite a few people personally (at least 20) who have had this done without any problems. I did not experience any issues at all with this. If you look at reviews online, you'll find TONS of great success stories....but on the other hand, you will also find horror stories. (this isn't any different from other "elective medical procedures").

Everyone I know (including myself) has had this done in the U.S. I researched my dr. like crazy and personally knew 4 other people who went to him before me without any problems.

Cost: Varies depending on location. I paid approx. $2000(both eyes) and this was a few years ago. I imagine the price should be lower now.

Re: Contact Lenses

I wore them only for like 3 hours .. They start irritating after that

Re: Contact Lenses

Me, My mom, My uncle, Aunt, Mom's friend, dad's partner and then his friend, we all did lasik in the same month by the same doctor and it went fine, even though the doctor did warn each of us of the potential risks, we are all still doing good Masha Allah, it was 4 years ago.
