When I try removing my lenses before I remove my eye makeup, I end up with some residue on them, and when I cleanse my eye area properly beforehand, I find it difficult to remove my lenses because my eyes are red and watery. What is the easiest way to go about this?
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
u should remove makeup after contact lenses are removed. This applies to both hard and soft contact lenses. This is important because during the process of removing makeup, debris can enter the eye. If this debris adheres to the contact lenses it can result in discomfort as well as an increased risk of infection if the debris damages the surface of the eye.... what makeup remover do u use?
try using neutrogena's makeup remover .... i find this is the only eye makeup remover i can use that dosn't burn my eyes
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
since none of the above happen with me, cant say for sure. Red and watery eyes sound scary anyway, so maybe you should remove lense before you finally start to remove the makeup. Just wash them properly before you put each in the case.
Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
Yeah remove lenses and clean them with the solution before putting them back in the case.
I wear pencil eyeliner in my waterline and manage to get it all over my fingers when removing my lenses. I wear monthlies so near the end of the month no matter how careful I am my case is always coverd in black smudges. Oopsies.
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
do you put your contact lenses on before or after you put on your makeup?
i was just thinking the residue might be from the fact that you put your contacts in after putting on your makeup which is a big no no, experts say that contacts should be put on before just so any makeup doesn't get stuck under the contacts and then irritate the eyes.
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
Just remove your contacts, clean them and put them in the case. Remove your makeup after, always.
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
I have done it both ways, before and after.
If I may ask, do your eyes always get red and watery removing makeup? With or without contacts, removing my makeup doesn’t cause my eyes to get watery or red …perhaps it is what you are using ![]()
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
I wouldn't have thought red and watery would be normal every day..
Re: Contact lens wearers - Do you remove makeup before or after?
Before removing makeup. Maybe you need to change your technique of removing them. You need to pull down the lower lashline with the other hand, look up, and quickly pinch out.
Maybe you are also not cleaning thoroughly enough. Before putting them in the case, they should be really clean. Do you clean one at time, in the palm of your hand, with a decent amount of solution, massaging the lens with your finger on both sides? You should do this twice. Then before putting it back in the case, you should hold it between your finger and thumb from the edge and drop some solution on it so it just drips off and takes any remaining particles with it.
I don't wear them that often anymore, so wear dailies. But even when I wore monthlies, I'd keep a set of dailies to use when I knew I'd be wearing lenses for a longer duration or coming back late and didn't want the hassle of cleaning them.
