njgal, my son has been on meds of one kind or another for constipation since his birth almost 8 years ago. He has (among other issues) low tone and gastroparesis which means that his intestines are not strong enough to push the food through. This process is called peristalsis - intestines knead the eaten food and push it on down the line...but my son's intestines are too weak to perform this function in an efficient manner. Massage of his stomach after meals definitely helps. But he also needs meds or he just cant process food then he can't eat and he loses weight.
We have had him on all kinds of meds. There are laxatives which should not be used over the long term but help much when theres a stubborn clog. There are stool softeners (esp natural ones with senna) that soften it and make it easier to pass on. And we try to tempt him to eat as much fiber and carrots as possible. We add psyllium Husk to his morning oatmeal. Wheat germ to anything soft.
And we make sure he stays well hydrated. When a person is taking anything to ease the intestines, it usually draws water to make the stools softer so they need more water just to maintain hydration.
I hope this helps....and heres to "good pooping" :) something I NEVER would have imagined to be wishing to someone but...well, there it is...when they poop well, they feel good, they eat good, they act good....so good poops to you!! :)
Try glycerine suppositories and "lilac" syrup, these things helped my daughter. U might also want 2 try 2 -3 drops of parrafin or castor oil in her milk/juice. It really really works.
Im a mom of 2 little girls and have been through this!
She is 2. She will drink prune juice but won't eat prunes. mA she does eat pears and whole wheat but her poop is hard like a rock. She goes everyday but her stool is very hard.
I feel so bad for her. She gets all red while trying to push :(
You could try Ismagol, its a desi remedy lol, but it works well. Its basically just husks, add a spoonful to a hot drink and have her drink it. its supposed to work for diarhoea (i didnt spell that right im sure) too, except you take it dry rather than in a drink. Hope it helps :)
try limiting her milk/dairy intake, it can be constipating, ya i was surprised too. I don't know how old she is, but generally dairy is a major part of their diet and that can be the problem sometimes. one of my kids went through it, and the doc recommended to cut down on milk and encourage fiber rich foods, apple juice, broccoli and popcorn (just salted) was a success!

try dalia(oatmeal) at breakast n drinking water early morning b4 breakfast .peach is good too. add green veges to her lunch.also see if she chews well.
since shes two r u potty training her?if yes try going to washroom after meals as ur body naturally tries to clean itself after meals.sumetimes when u need to go but u ignore the feeling n go at a later time ur stool gets harder.
Give her anything that contains alot of fiber.. such as dates, prunes. Both are great for constipation problems. Make her eat a few during the day and you will see how much it will help her, iA.
