A friend of mine has a couple month old baby who she has started on bottlefeed… once a day… flip side of bottle feed, baby is constipated… what can she do …any natural remedies … doctor told her to give prune juice but that didn’t work on the child… anything else she can do …
What kind of milk is she giving? How old is baby?
formula...baby is abt 4 months...
Either change the formula even if this doesn't work try lactose tolerant formula.
But if constipation is for only a day or two then its okay sometimes babies gain health. But if baby is making faces like he/she has a pain and bends a little then check with doc or change the formula.
Re: Constipation in infants...
It happens once in a while. Get the baby to exercise a lot of kicking and such. Lie baby down and move legs like a bicycle. Do a gentle tummy massage.
Make sure to doublecheck the age on the formula.
Re: Constipation in infants...
make sure she is preparing the formula right..
change formula if baby continues to be constiptated.. sometimes a baby's tummy needs to adjust to the new diet ..
massage the tummy like sahar said.. another good exercise is just around the navel, make a fist out of ure palm.. and place it on teh navel.. then in a push down lightly and twist clockwise.... its another form of massage
warm bath helps.. warm cloth massage helps too..
prune juice shoudl have helped.. im surprised it didnt.. give it undiluted.
dont let it get too bad.. if baby doesnt poop in 2 days.. get her on castor oil or some other medicated lubricant.
Re: Constipation in infants...
Nestle has a formula with what they call "comfort proteins", its supposed to help prevent constipation. Didnt work for my sons, their constipation was pretty severe.
We used Benefiber (psyllium husk), its a powder that I mixed into their formula and it worked very well.
When they got so bound up that it went on for days, I had to use a glycerin suppository but this isnt something that should be used often.
