Salaam GSers. I’m at the crossroads at the mo, graduated over a year ago and have had no luck finding a job thats related to my field or interest. Im working at the mo but its completely unrelated and cannot be called a career. Ive studied engineering so was temporarily thinking to do a PGCE in naths but after some work exp in schools i dont know if this is something I could do for life!
i mean the kids were okay to me but coz i was new etc but they were quite horribly behaved with their teachers And i could see the teachers were really struggling
< like that. So anyways ive been thinking for some time now and thought if im good at maths, maybe the other option for me is accounting! Whih would be nice mainly coz of the money kerching!
… So question is, with all the tonnes of info that comes up on a google search, what would be your tried and tested advice? Someone told me to do AAT first and then go on to do the rest of the fundamental modules? And also ive heard that the exam materials are really expensive? How did any of you accounting students start, and what helpdid you get in terms of tuition and study material? Thank you in advance for your replies! ![]()

.
Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation…
So, which type of Engineering degree do you have?
Lol. It’s hard to live off min wage.
Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation…
Ha you’re telling me!
and i’ll pm u in a bit. Too much personal info for the world to see (to lead to beeing identified!) would completely take away the comfort of anonymous posting on GS! ![]()

The rest Of you GSers… Im disappointed

Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation...
Engineer without a job? You don't hear that very often. I wouldn't recommend switching fields now that you already have a college degree in engineering, if I were you i'd look into Cisco certifications, CCNA, CCNP, they will definitely increase your chances of landing a proper job, and they make a lot of money
Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation...
i have an unemployed accountant working for me, and and we have loads of engineering positions that we could fill if we could find the right people.
i guess a lot depends on what you want out of the rest of your career.
like mr noodle - dont hear of many engineers out of work!
Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation…
Ive looked into it briefly, initially i hought it was more practical engineering applications on routers modems etc but its more on the IT side of things no? ![]()
As for unemployed engineers, theres loadsss! Which economic climate are you living in? Everywhere we apply we get told “sorry you have no experience” and graduate entry positions are highly sought after and filled by preppy graduates fron red brick unis who have known what they wanted to do ever since they were weaned onto solid feeds lol. Apparently its a crime to not be an ambitious know-it-all since the age of ten. :hinna:
Re: Considering studying towards ACCA accreditation…
An unemployed accountant?
i didnt know that was possible? What company do you work at and what does it specialise in? and where are you advertising the vacancies? If they’re genuinely looking for fresh graduates i have tonnes of friends etc too who would apply and some have 1st class degrees MashaAllah and from a pretty good uni (if i may say so myself! :halo: ) kissi ka toh bhala ho if not myself.
