Conservanistas - How Do You Do It? Post Your outfits or Ideas Pleaseee

Hi Ladies! I know my title is quite lame (first of all) but I just came back from a shopping trip in search of a New Years Eve outfit for tomorrow and I couldnt find anyyyyyyythingggggg!! Anything that WASN’T skimpy wimpy!! Either the bottom is missing, or the top portions are missing and its so hard to find nice going out outfits that just don’t display it all. I would really like to know how do you girls dress conservative chic?

Probs need some more info on what you are looking for in an outfit and what is/isn't okay for you. Conservative means different things to different people. For example, some girls might cover up but be okay with figure hugging dresses/clothing, whilst others might be okay with a bit of skin showing (e.g. arms).

I think generally with arms covered, legs covered (at least to the ankles.) Necklines are okay for me but usually spaghetti straps and tube tops is all you can find. I think I am looking for tips as well. Have been trying to find some good blogs geared towards fashionable dressing for conservative tastes but I have come across any except one which wasn't really a blog. I guess I would like to know how do you guys generally go about dressing up for fancy events? It feels like the only way to wear something is to pair it with a blazer or cardigan. I am soo tired of blazers.

You can generally find long sleeve dresses that are knee length...pair it with opaque tights and knee high boots. That's what I do...or even with a knee length skirt...the last New Years Eve my husband and I went out with friends I wore sleeveless sequined cowel neck shell with a cardigan, a knee length black skirt, opaque tights and knee high boots that had a stiletto heel. You could easily find a sequined top that is long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve...maybe with a boat neck.

If you don't like the idea of a knee length skirt even with opaque tights then look for a floor length....Nordstrom or White House Black Market are sure bets

Have you looked at floor length dresses like these? They also have some really nice sleeveless, floor length dresses too…but not sure how you’d feel about having to pair those with a nice shawl (I’m assuming you’re not ok with sleeveless).

Well at the moment, lace sleeve (3-quarter or full length) skater dresses are in lots of shops here. Providing you are okay wearing around knee length dresses with tights (not leggings!). The same for maxi dresses - more than usual about with full sleeves and lace.

Also, maxi skirts with embellished blouses:

The second one is a bit much but you could wear a blouse like that with a plain black maxi skirt. I wore a similar ensemble to a fancy dinner. I’ve worn my black maxi skirt a lot since buying it since it’s so easy to dress up or down.

SandS- it's hard! I always have trouble with this. Generally a loose-fitting formal top w/slacks or a professional style maxi skirt is what I end up wearing to dressier events.

If you find a maxi dress that is sleeveless, a Blazer with a but of gold or any metallic buttons or detailing like contrasting piping can really pull a dress together. Throw in a fee accessories like a necklace and a cocktail ring or a bracelet / earring and a hot shoe and it looks really nice all pulled together. U can wear the opaque tights or just leggings with ankle booties on shorter dresses with cardigans or again blazers
