During the day at work there are numerous incidents where you have to rethink for a minute or two and judge your conscious to take a certain step.
I observe people lying or hiding the fact a nicer way to put it all day long. I can’t seem to adopt that nature and yet they go far in life. For example, get more commission or even promotion. I sit in my office and go wait a minute I was honest all this time did everything the way it suppose to be done. I didn’t take any short cuts didn’t go above the laws etc. Allah is watching and knows that I didn’t let shayatan take over me or never even took a small decision that is in opposition to the procedures of company.
Then how come I see everyone else getting whatever would please their hungry nature. And I don’t get anything
I guess to survive in this field I have to become something like them. These people are really ugly looking deep down. I don’t know how can they fall asleep at night knowing they did something wrong consciously and it can hurt the company in the long run.
Am I going crazy?
I am getting a feeling I have to break that nutshell but I will kill part of me. The honesty and integrity…

Nia, its time to find another company or more drastic another career. I will never advise any one to put the ethics on the back burner to climb the corporate ladder. Maybe if you chnaged companies and find that not all people in that field (whatever field that is) are the same way.
Hang in there, dont compromise your integrity and honesty...its not worth it.
nia - every company or individual has different ways of measuring success to let you climb up the corporate ladder and this is something you cannot control or change. If your company has a kiss-up culture and if this is something that's against your morals, then I'd suggest you look elsewhere. You are sure to find places where you are evaluated based on your performance and where nothing else really matters.
depends on the companies…some small companies ruled by ethical boss can be really enjoyable honest places to work in so as kaleem advised, nia you should for another places to work in, but be aware of jassoos phrase…unfortunately human nature is not really honest, so it may be hard to keep your values in order to survive…
You either have to buck up and carry on with your job...you can either plod along and watch all your contempories get promoted, feel despondent when they do and lose interest
Or you can learn by example and be like them... become ruthless and eventually get to where you want in the company
Or you can leave and sell candyfloss to little children
nia...my hubby's previous company was cut throat. His boss would always try to knock him down. But Alhamdulilah he never jepordized his integrity or honesty. And I certainly believe that Allah swt watched him struggle and blessed him with his new job which is so much better than his previous one. Alhamdulilah.
