I’ll be visiting California again for a business trip and want to spend a weekend with relatives in Massachusetts on my way back to Europe.
The domestic flight that I’ll take is a Delta flight from Sacramento (SMF) to Hartford (BDL) via Atlanta (ATL). For the flight from ATL to BDL I have two options:
Departure at 7.23 AM - Connection time in Atlanta: 1 hour and 12 minutes
Departure at 9.48 AM - Connection time in Atlanta: 3 hours and 37 minutes
I’d prefer Option 1, because it gets me into BDL a lot sooner. Apart from that it’s cheaper too.
But do you think 1 hour and 12 minutes is enough to connect between 2 domestic flights in Atlanta? I’ve never been to that airport before.
Re: Connecting flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport
an hour should be just enough for a connecting flight unless of course, your incoming flight gets delayed. As an airport hub, Atlanta is notorious for delayed flights... but that being said, your outgoing flight may also be delayed so you'll still end up with the same layover time.
The airport in Atlanta has concourses that are connected through underground tramway and trains run almost every couple of minutes. The concourses are also connected through a moving walkway if you plan to stand/walk between concourses but I think with a short layover, the tram option might work better.
Re: Connecting flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport
**one hour and 12 minutes is more than enuf time to connect. you need just 30 min connection time. u don't need to go thru security so u really just need 30 minutes. besides, in aviation terminology, its a legal connection and if u miss ur connecting flight due to airline's fault u are entitled to get the next flight. i'm sure there are frequent flights through out day.
u don't have to worry one bit...take that flight in confidence. :)**
