vande mataram as a reason for partition is like saying a mosquito is a reason for making an atom bomb.
it is in sanskrit, and it is a song written in praise of the motherland. most indians don't even know the song.
religion is easy, one doesn't need to use a lot of logic to get followers. "muslim hai to muslim league mei aa" is mostly what did it. not jinnah, not iqbal.
May be Vande Mataram was officially detested by Muslim league leaders. The leaders who might knew Hindi. If that was about shirk, Muslim leaders in congress like Molana Abul kalam Azad (who also wrote Tafseer e Quran) might have agitated against it.
you mean to say, muslims were ok with it, n this is all story tht muslims were hurted for considering hindi as national language n there was no conflict.

these small small issues were showing muslims n hindus cant live togather, many muslim leaders were part of congress. but yes religion really divided ppl of sub continent
haha.. yeh hindi walay, especially the eastern dialects have no idea of what to do with their Zs. but there are lots of pakistanis in the same boat outside of the big cities.

Religion itself not divided people. people were living in harmony for centuries. It was using religion as a tool which divided people.

imho, this is a very shortsighted point of view. brits used divide and rule profusely, but to completely give in to this, and not even remember anything from before their colonization - is a big shame.
what if tomorrow someone comes and says ahmedis (who supported pakistan) and the rest of pakistanis can't live together, will you give them a new country?

exactly i mean to say this, ppl were actually creating issues using different methods like hindus were against slaughter of cow n muslims were not ready to accept bande matarm
