Congress and Pakistan

Re: Congress and Pakistan

I think Mr Jinah had joined Muslim League in 1913 and later Lucknow Pact of 1916 says that there was no idea of Pakistan till that. It was Nehru report in 1929 that lead to idea of separate state for Muslims, before that League was emphasizing on only separate Muslim electoral. Even Mr Jinah's 14 points don't give a clue for separate state.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

congress was not in favour of partition because british were giving hindus slight edge, because hindus were more educated n up to level of british. n these were the issues between muslims and hindus tht Hindu revivalists rallied for a ban on the slaughter of cows, a cheap source of meat for the Muslims. They also wanted to change the official script form the Persian to the Hindu Devanagri script, effectively making Hindi rather than Urdu the main candidate for the national language.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

But DA if Congress was that rigid about these issues how it showed a tolerance especially in respect of languages. We have to accept that India is more tolerant when it comes to promotion of local languages. Pakistan lost its one part due to this language controversy.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Congress made several mistakes in their policies which further convinced the League that it was impossible to live in a undivided India after freedom from colonial rule because their interests would be completely suppressed. One such policy was the institution of the "Bande Matram," a national anthem which expressed anti-Muslim sentiments, in the schools of India where Muslim children were forced to sing it.

Congress' rejection of the interim government set up under this Cabinet Mission Plan in 1942 convinced the leaders of the Muslim League that compromise was impossible and partition was the only course to take.

Muslims were to be found at all levels in the Congress, but it was predominantly upper-caste Hindus who were its mainstay.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

but at tht time they wanted hindi as antional language so obviously muslims ddint liked it, yes paksitan lost its part but all tht was later after 1947.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

But they never imposed Hindi on masses like we tried to impose Urdu on Bengalis

Re: Congress and Pakistan

How was Bande mataram against Muslims? is it due to the fact that it was Hindi or was there anyother reasons to make it Anti-Muslim?

Re: Congress and Pakistan

but muslims were hurted, this show tht muslims n hindus dont equal rights, because this was giving slight edge to hindus

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Vande Mataram, song gave a notion of worshipping Mother India, which they consider to be shirk (idolatry)

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Do you think that Muslims all over India owned Urdu and hated Hindi? I don't think so. They were and they are (even today) more attached to their own languages. if that would not be the case we didn't see strong agitation by Bengalis when Quaid e Azam tried to made Urdu as their national language.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Can you please post translation of Bande Mataram here to see how much it was shirk? May be it was Hindi equivalent of Iqbal’s ‘Saare Jahan se acha, Hindustaan hamara’ :hmmm:

Re: Congress and Pakistan

in india...
most of muslims know urdu and accept it as an indian language...

you will find non urdu speaking muslims in tamilnadu, kerala, some part of andhra and karnataka..and might be west bengal....

Rst of indian muslim have basic knowledge of urdu....

Re: Congress and Pakistan

i dont think so, but history says muslims were hurted

Re: Congress and Pakistan

i found english translation not urdu

I show gratitude to thee, Mother,
richly-watered, richly-fruited,
cool with the winds of the south,
dark with the crops of the harvests,
The Mother!

Her nights rejoicing in the glory of the moonlight,
her lands clothed beautifully with her trees in flowering bloom,
sweet of laughter, sweet of speech,
The Mother, giver of boons, giver of bliss

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Thats again prove my point that there was no action taken by Indian governments which restricted development and promotion of Urdu. Even upto late 90’s bollywood songs were more tilted towards Urdu than Hindi, however, in Pakistan even some governments disapproved Hindi kalam of Ameer Khusro :bummer:

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Which history? the one that is taught in Pakistani schools? :hehe: which taught a 7-8 year student first lesson ‘Hindu and Muslims are two different nations. One are from Mars others are from Venus’

Re: Congress and Pakistan

Now tell me where do you find shirk in it?

Re: Congress and Pakistan

but you see there is conflict many words we consider urdu are considered hindi by indians :hmmm:

Re: Congress and Pakistan

lolz did i said i found :smack:

i was taking about muslims of tht time, they considered it shirk, even now, some muslim organizations have asked indian government to give proper translation of vanda matram in urdu so tht this conflict can be resolved.

Re: Congress and Pakistan

its secular government thats why it never restricted urdu but it never promoted urdu as a language either…

sarkar zaraa india akar urdu schools ke halat dekho…

Hope KKF bhai will shade some light on this issue…

What pakistan did with hindi is shameful act…koi language hindu ya musalmaan nahi hoti…

sir urdu ke alawa bhi filmon me bahot kuchh hota hai kiya uss me bhi aap government ki imdaad dekhtein hain…
