congress was not in favour of partition because british were giving hindus slight edge, because hindus were more educated n up to level of british. n these were the issues between muslims and hindus tht Hindu revivalists rallied for a ban on the slaughter of cows, a cheap source of meat for the Muslims. They also wanted to change the official script form the Persian to the Hindu Devanagri script, effectively making Hindi rather than Urdu the main candidate for the national language.

But DA if Congress was that rigid about these issues how it showed a tolerance especially in respect of languages. We have to accept that India is more tolerant when it comes to promotion of local languages. Pakistan lost its one part due to this language controversy.
