Faris, may I respectfully ask for an umpire's review on this question? : D
My understanding is that while the Germans were the first to use chemical weapons in a significant way, the French were technically the first to use them; bromide grenades.
The quiz was fun, so thank you. : )

World War 1 was widely believed to be the first War in which there was extensive use of Mustard gas and other chemical agents... but who used this terrible weapons first?
The Question clearly asked who was the first to use Chemical Weapons in that War... while many of you were right the French and British and even the Boers in Africa had access to Poison gas few imagined it would be used as this War was supposed to be a "great game" so it seemed and it was only when the desperate Germans used this fearsome weapon at several engagements and the British and French were rather late to catch on. So the answer was indeed (d).

Thats a very good point you make however is there any evidence to suggest the French deployed those Grenades first in World War one. I conceed the French did indeed have Bromide Grenades and the French Foriegn Legion fammously or Infamously used them to put down several North African rebellions in massacres that could be compared with the Jalya-Wala Bhaag of India. However they did not use them extensively in World War one as a Tactical weapon the way the Germans used gas was originally by opening Chloride tanks down-wind of the enemy trenches and the effects were devastating.
However I am going to double check with my colleagues and will also look into French sources of the time and if there is indeed evidence which suggests the French were given orders from high command to deploy Chemical Weapons en-Masse then very well you would have indeed won this quiz. I will look into the matter and make my final decision this evening.
I thankyou very much for taking part in this quiz and I will definately consider reviewing the questions… Mind you I only set one of the questions the others are actually formal questions from various sources.
No no offcourse it's neccasary for the benefit of everyone as a student of History myself I never claimed to be an expert and I dont want to be wrong in making a judgement so I will check with some Proffesor friends of mine and make sure...
Therefore everyone who answerd that question with the same answer as yourself could potentially be correct and thus we need to wait and see... I am taking my role as History Mod very seriously and nobody can say I was not a fair man. :)
^ Insha Allah I am here to help you improve and dont put yourself down you did well and also learned something too maybe it will spark your interest... what exactly did you like about History and I will take note and make it interesting for you... :)
"Following its first use at Nieuport, Mustard Gas was used by the Germans to deluge the town of Ypres on the night of 12th/13th July 1917, causing 2,014 casualties."
I suppose I stand corrected on that one if we are being specific about Mustard Gas.
