Congratulations Folks

Re: Congratulations Folks

If IDF can kidnap Lebanese then they also have a right to respond, don't you think?

Re: Congratulations Folks

A peace treaty would have also released prisoners.

Hizbullah had caused trouble constantly along the border from 2000 to today. Mortarings, attempted kidnappings, sniper fire, rockets, infiltrations. It is very hard to say that the issue was only Lebanese prisoners. Hizbullah was warned that further kidnappings were an act of war. They were arrogant in assuming that Israel would not eventually get seriously pi$$ed. How many Pakistaini soldiers may the Indians kidnap with no consequences?

Re: Congratulations Folks

Oh defeat is so painful.

Re: Congratulations Folks

Was there such treaty in 2000 when Israel withdrew from Lebanon?

Re: Congratulations Folks

It was never about victory and defeat. I mean let us be realistic for once. Israel can never defeat when they are occupying a nation, for them Hezbollah in rubbles was a victory, which they failed to achieve. Hezbollah wanted to survive and make sure that they send message of fearlessness to Israel. They wanted to make sure that Israel and rest of their allies remember that they are not scared of them; they are prepared and can counter their military. In short, a war of credibility, where Israel not only lost, shot itself on the foot but made it difficult for its staunchest ally to support her on the international arena.

Israel defiantly on the back foot and watch for Olmert government to collapse, whether it affect Bush and Blair is a different story but the intimidation factor that Israel enjoyed is gone for ever. It is now about credibility among your own people, and Israeli government is scrambling for it. It is interesting that they will adapt, how the main question is, for those who think that they will again prepare for another attack must be joking. You have to understand that it is a dead end now. The intention of Israel should be to reach out to allies, non-Muslim world and get the support that it needs.

Hezbollah, Iran and Syria have the main light. They can run on streets chanting victory all they want but unless they really reach out and become a part of solution in International politics, they will remain the same and their people will be suffering for next 20 years living in poverty, isolated where only thing you have is a militia, not a good picture at all.

It is a race for sure, but not of military power rather political credibility.

Why Israel failed to achieve its goals

Published: Tuesday, August 15, 2006
A month ago, political analysts around the world were discussing what would happen if Israel vanquished Hezbollah, stripping the Lebanese militia of its missiles, destroying its supply lines and dealing a strategic blow to Hezbollah’s sponsors – Syria and Iran.

Yesterday, in the early morning hours leading to an uncertain ceasefire in shattered Lebanon, Hezbollah bombarded Israel with 250 rockets – the highest one-day total in a month-long war.

The terms of the geopolitical debate in the Middle East have shifted. The focus is now on what went wrong.

Mossad myth shattered in Lebanon war

Re: Congratulations Folks

Hezbollah can claim the victory all they want, reality is that Israel inflicted serious damage on them, jump up and down you guys, that doesn't change the truth.
