Maybe your cousin was out of sorts because you didn’t give him any attention. The next time you see him, ask him if everything is ok because he looked disturbed last time. Then see how he reacts. Just because a guy seems really shareef, it doesn’t mean he can’t play footsie with you.

Something similar happened to me one time. I was sitting in a meeting and a non-Pakistani/non-Muslim guy was sitting next to me. He was a friend too, but we mainly saw one another at the weekly meetings. He started saving me seats next to him at the meetings. Then one day, his foot kept hitting mine. I gave him a WTH look (I thought he understood the expression on my face). Then he put his hand on my thigh… and I don’t speak to him anymore.

So definitely try to find out what your cousin’s intentions are. If you’re not comfortable with him, give him clear signals.
