Its really very difficult to recognise gender of certain names (non-desi)
June is the name of a female , August is male I don’t know what would be case with July
Used to consider Nichola a female untill I talked to him
All of the above, used to think that Anjini Verma would be dancing on ‘mere hathon main nau-nau chooRiyan’, but when talked to him ‘Main to aiwen hi awen lut gaya’
Any rule to recognise gender of names especially Western and far-east names?
i think kaur and singh take care of that confusion...but first part of the name is unisex.....
Yeah, but you don't always see the Kaur or Singh written. In school, most students are just registered as Singh for their last name because they use the same last name as their dads. It's only more recently that other Sikh last names are being used - like Atwal, Chabba, Toor and then the Kaur or the Singh is used as a middle name.
And actually, I remember reading an article that said that Sikh people have a baptismal ceremony and they are expected to give up their family names and take on Singh or Kaur as their identifying names.
