I doubt the UK would twist names, after all English is our first language :)
So you have clarified silk chiffon in your own mind. So if a chiffon is not composed of silk threads, what is it called? - This may help you understand :)
What is the difference in weaving between plain chiffon and crinkle chiffon? Because they are very different, therefore they will have different names.
^ the names of fabrics or special words for any particular product dont have to do anything with language. i dont thing that in uk there will be goras creating silk chiffon fabric.
and u r saying that if chiffon is not made of silk what it will be made of???
there are hundreds of different material to use
crepe itself is a pattern like chiffon , please see Crêpe (textile) - Wikipedia
its clearly written Crape (an Anglicized version of the Fr. crêpe [1]) is a silk, wool, or polyester fabric of a gauzy texture
and crinkle dont have to do anything with only crinkle chiffon.
its a simple weaving pattern. if u think only crinkle chiffon have crinkle then why chiffon jamawar have crinkle too. u cannot attach “crinkle” word with “chiffon jamawar” whatsoever but it has crinkle.
in pakistan i dont know with whome u have been dealing with. atleast i am dealing with 100%pure silk fabrics for last 10 years.
if u have any ambiguity please let ur fabric u buy be tested from laboratory. its report details will clear ur concept.
anyways i am not here to clear concepts , i am here to sell good products.
thanks.
and i dont want to go into useless arguments.please dont mind it.
bye
exactly, so if you want it to be silk, you have to say silk chiffon or you will get a synthetic mix one.
if you pick up a western dress in the UK that is chiffon, look at the label and it will most likely say ‘polyester’ - that is synthetic. very rarely do you find chiffon with a tag that specifies '100% silk".
the same goes for all over the world. if i want a silk based chiffon not a synthetic one, i have to ask for it.
you are right about crepe. but it’s the same with georgette which is a different fabric from chiffon. they are different things but because they are similar to chiffon, pakistani’s like to add the -chiffon to the end. but they do this for a reason, beacuse they want the crepe or georgette to be similar in look to regular chiffon. because again, there are different types of crepe and georgette and some are very different from chiffon fabrics i.e. more stiffness in the case of crepe.
it still doesn’t change the fact that there is more than one kind of chiffon. one will produce a flat feeling fabric one that produces crinkles.
so tell me, if i want a flat chiffon, without the crinkle, what do i call it? i can’t just call it chiffon because then i don’t know what i’m going to get!
people don’t bother to add the crinkle to chiffon jamawar because it only comes in the crinkle form.. therefore no need to specify.
keep trying to sell your products. but your clients will want to know how they can specify for different types of chiffon fabric but it seems that you only use one kind.
i am not saying that there arnt more kinds of chiffon, its just the word u r using wrong. u found it urself on wiki the word "chiffon" to name fabric and not "crepe chiffon"
and for ur info there are lots of types of chiffon jamawar but still we dont use crinkle with it.
thanks.
