hi everyone …
i m new here… it my first post in cafe… can anybody tell me… what is the accual concept of thanksgiving??? celebration of thanksgiving day??? being a muslim… ??? is it ok ??? can v celebrate this day??? & whats a role of muslim soceity for such days???

Its bascially a historical event. After winning a war, the public basically had some sort of get together dinner as a family. And to say thanks to God for all the blessings.

Canadian thanksgiving is a celebration of a successful harvest. The American thanksgiving is the results of the pilgrims settling in Massachusates celebrating their harvest.

Bhaisaab if a muslim happens to be an american then he/she may celebrate, send cards on this day event, otherwise its non of our concern.

It is like saying that one should eat buklawa or or cake, which is more islamic ?

Islam does not dictate petty issues. It give broad guidlines and rest is common sense. thanksgiving is a local holiday/event, no concern with any religion or any region other than america

Everything which does not fall in forbidden category, and it is not mentioned in scripture. then it is considered *mubah. *

So we use common sense or personal like/dislike for mubah thing. Like wearing coat, jeans, skirt. Driving car, bike or jeep. Playing footbal , cricket or hockey. Using notebooks palm pilots or using mobiles etc

Plus Muslim all over the world celebrate this ???

Nobody sends cards on thanksgiving day, where did you get that from?
Thanksgiving is a secular holiday, basically its getting together with your family, having a big dinner and just relaxing and taking advantage of the day off. Nothing more. I dont c why Muslims shudnt celebrate that ? If they dont want to fine but it's not a religious holiday so why the uproar and stupidity when they dO?
