In our culture, the primary thing that defines a “real man” is being able to provide for and protect one’s family. Having honour, bravery, loyalty, and keeping one’s word is also key. There are other things as well but those are a bit more relative and variable.

In west, ladies are also earning bread and butter for their families and hence meeting criteria of ‘to provide for and protect one’s family’. So, they are challenging the typical male dominated societies by doing acts which fall under mardangi.

On other hand a lady can be brave, are generally more loyal than males and they do show commitment to promises. This shows that they can show the attributes of ‘mardangi’.
