concealer?

can anyone please recommend the best concelear for under $30.00 especially for dark circles?

Re: concealer?

Bobbi Brown Corrector by itself is amazing. Just make sure you get the right shade. The peachiness cancels out darkness wonderful and the pot lasts ages. It's $22. If you want a bit of brightening as well as concealing, top it with the Garnier Anti-Darkness roller, it's about $7 in most places.

Another one I love, but may not work for everyone for under eyes since it's waxy and may be drying if the area isn't moisturized well, is the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer. It has 2 colors and you have to mix them to get the color but it's AMAZING for blemishes since it has a waxy formula so it doesn't budge, and I find that the peachy/pink shade works amazing for under eyes and then I go over it with the lighter yellower shade to brighten. It's a slightly fussy product with a high learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it's the best. Pat McGrath and Lisa Eldrigde (highly-respected in the makeup world, McGrath being the most powerful in the makeup world) swear by this concealer. It's $28. If you have a Sephora near you, try to get matched to this. You want to match yourself to the shade in the bigger pan.

Another one I like is MAC Studio Finish Concealer in an NW shade (NC works better for blemishes and spots since the yellow cancels redness) to cancel darkness. These are $17 and are very easy to work with (you also get a TON of product, the concealer is all the till the bottom of the jar) because you can tap your finger in and roll it under your eye. Some people don't like it for under eyes because it may be too thick for them but I have slightly dry skin and this worked great for me until I upgraded to Bobbi Brown Corrector (similar in theory to MAC SF concealer but a slightly thinner formula so it doesn't cake up), LM Secret Camo and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (I would recommend this but it's $45).

Re: concealer?

The LM sounds wonderful...will look into it. The MAC is a good one and you're right the NW family does the trick.

Another one I posted about a while ago that I lovvvvvve is Amazing Cosmetics concealer. A teeny tiny bit goes a long long way and it covers up beautifully. I don't wear this all the time but if I have a day when I am super tired and circles are an issue...this is all I need.

Re: concealer?

i have really bad dark circles and i use bobbi brown concealor and corrector it really works amazing .. you wont regret buyig it

Re: concealer?

My friend loves the Amazing Cosmetics concealer. For some reason, I like concealer in pots and not squeeze tubes so I passed. And def. look into the LM concealer. Makeup artists love this, you can buy 2 different colors, like the #3 (which is what I use) and #5 and you can match all skin types. And you need a very tiny brush for it, the Secret Camo. brush is PERFECT for it, it's my next brush to get.

Re: concealer?

I think I'm going to try the BB corrector. Is it okay on its own? I read it can look weird without the concealer on top... in which case is the concealer kit better than the concealer on its own?

Re: concealer?

MAC Studio Finish in an NW shade. I can attest to this really working because I have horrible dark circles and the NW colour I got conceals ALL of it.

Re: concealer?

I second the Laura Mercier's concealer recommendation. Absolutely love it. For corrector, I would go to Bobbi Brown, but love my LM concealer. I am probably the concealer queen, and have tried almost EVERY high-end to drugstore brands out there. The only one I keep going back to is the LM concealer, it's definitely my HG :-)

Re: concealer?

Nope, it works perfect on it's own. When I'm in a hurry, I just grab it with me and literally can conceal my eyes in less than 15 second. Generally, for Asian skin the peach shades work better. People from NC15-27 can use Light Peach and generally NC27-35 (usually even 40) can use Peach.

Yay! What brush do you use? And can I ask what your shade and skin tone is in MAC? Did you have trouble with it at first? At first I found it too light and kind of way too fussy but I found using the smallest brush is KEY.

Re: concealer?

^ When I am in a rush, I usually just blend with my fingers, otherwise I use MAC 224 to blend and it does a great job! Oh and I am a NC-20 (summer NC25) in MAC. I have the LM concealer in shade 2, I think. It did look a bit too light in the beginning, maybe because I was applying too much of it? So now I just take a tiny bit and blend it away - looks almost flawless esp when blended with a 224. :)

Re: concealer?

^Really? My 224 would never pick up that concealer, I need to use a synthetic brush to get some since it's waxy and not creamy. Did it soften over time? And I'm the same skin color as you and I have both 2 and 3, the only difference between the two is that the smaller shade is more pink in #2 and more peachy #3.

But maybe my room is a bit cool/cold so my concealer isn't as soft? I dont know.

Re: concealer?

^ Oh did you mean if I use the brush to pick the concealer? I use my fingers and dab it on where needed, only for blending I use the brush.

And now that you say your's is not as creamy, I think maybe we are talking about 2 different concealers here. :-\ Just realized LM has 2 concealers, Secret Camouflage and Secret Concealer. The one that's my HG is the Secret concealer, the one that comes in a pot, and this one's super creamy. Maybe that's what the difference is?

Re: concealer?

Which brush do you guys use for under eye concealer? I'm currently using the 224

Re: concealer?

Ah, yes. I was referring to the Secret Camo one, the one that comes in the compacts.

Re: concealer?

Thanks girls... LM sounds great but I know nothing about makeup so I may never get the hang of mixing na matching!!

I will try Bobbi Brown!

I knew I could count on you girls!!!
