Re: Computer restart automatically

Once I got on the computer and then it had restarted on me.
I logged back on my user and it said, "Automatically restated because of updates." It said something like that. So maybe you maybe you have many things on your computer that being updated or something.

Re: Computer restart automatically

i suspect a virus
can you open task manager? Hit "ctrl+shift+escape"

Re: Computer restart automatically

Get a good antivirus and update it and then scan for viruses
Get Spyware / Mal ware scanner, scan through it
Empty your temp files
then try it again....!

Re: Computer restart automatically

try opening file from dos prompt with EDIT msconfig...
your computer shouldnt restart, but it might be some worm type virus. that attaches itself to system files or folders.

Re: Computer restart automatically

You can hit this to, " Ctrl+Alt+Delete."
Those are the 3 buttons I always use to open a Windows Task Manager. My Uncle has been with computer for quite a while and he told me that, now I am not saying that you are wrong, I am just saying that I didn't know that there was another way to open that.

Mr. Genius, Yes.

Thanks guys for your help but I think format is the only option left.

Re: Computer restart automatically

download this msconfig and run it (after extracting the zip to exe)
see if it restarts… if not, you can replace this new file in c:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries

Re: Computer restart automatically

Restore to an earlier config didn't help?

Re: Computer restart automatically

Check your system settings in the Device Manager and see if any hardware is showing a yellow exclaimation mark next to it (conflict alert). What msconfig does when it starts is that it probes the hardware to report it later. I think this probing is causing a memory overflow. Can you put a screen shot of the BSOD?
