This conclusion, however, is incorrect. The districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu both have large (non-Kashmiri) Muslim-majorities. In both districts, nearly all of the respondents favored remaining in India. Similarly, 80% of the population in Muslim-majority Kargil (where the people are Ladakhi/Tibetan) favored remaining in India.
The results are highly polarized along ethnic lines, not religious.
