Just wanted to know how everyone studies for it? How do you retain all the information?

"rattafication is the best qualification for examination"..but i don't have this qualification, ahmadjee...so any other ideas besides memorizing coz i can't do that.
Personally I find reading over and over again a little help, but if i write everything down that I'm studying and write it over and over, it sticks with me. You'll use a lot of paper, but it'll be worth it.
Reading, to me, if I'm thinking about something else; distractions, etc., I'll forget what I just read. Try writing your notes over and over again. Writing brings out the necessary information and sticks with you longer. That's just me, I take long cuts instead of short cuts, but I can't seem to pay attention long reading, I guess writing it down, you have to use your brain and hand to put your notes on paper, while reading, is just passing your eyes line after line, and that puts me to sleep. Memorising is easy if you know how....PM me so I dont give my secrets away all at once.
But alternatively, understanding something fully will benefit you in the long run.
I have done hmmm let me see, accessing memory now....80+ exams...and found that a little understanding outweighs memorising. But memory helps.

Thap understanding the material, is what i believe in..but how to access that learned material from the mind seems the main issue.
Are you taking the graduate comprehensive exam? Or just in some course you have a comprehensive final?

I’m a Medical Transcriptionist now and listening to a doctor talk about a specimen/case, I can’t get into it, but I have to actually type what he says word for word and typing/writing makes you feel like you are actually seeing what he is seeing cutting in the specimen - gross description, describing it and then doing the microscopic examination - what he is actually diagnosing from looking at the slides under the microscope. So I remember it after transcribing what he says about it. That’s the way I did it in school, I wrote down everything and to study, I would rewrite it so I could remember it rather than reading it over and over and losing concentration as to which line I was on and staying awake.
Use clues to help you trigger recall. Lump information that is similar into a category and use a clue to identify it. A picture clue for example.
Also, when you are studying different subjects, be sure to sit in a different place for each subject studied. This is a proven technique, along with the one above.
Writing down things and also teaching others what you have learned is also helpful. Talk to your doll for example, as if you are the teacher. I used to do that, hehe. It helped meeeeeee! Dont laugh!

There is no short cut.
The best way to study is to read and read until you understand. Don't study for the exam but for knowledge. Make notes after reading, from memory, to see how much you have understood. Read your notes frequently and try to remember the detail. Where in doubt read the portion again to revive memory.
Try to answer questions in the text book and past examinations.

I used to do that too. I had 4 dolls and I was the teacher and would write out a test, 4 times and make each doll take the test, then I could grade it with the Teacher Answer Sheet.
