How many of you ladies/ gents actually make the effort to compliment other ladies/ gents?
I can’t lie, I do it so rarely that I can’t even remember the last time I went out of my way to compliment someone ( not including family). But I’m going to start as soon as I see another beautiful handbag, nail color, hair style… because today someone MADE my day!!!
So I’m walking out of my afternoon class when this girl I have never talked to before ( but she’s in my class) comes up to me and tells me how cute my shoes are and that she loves all the shoes I wear including something I wore last week. I was just like .
i do it, including to random people in the street i dont know if i liek what they are wearing or if they have nice hair or something. If i dont like something i wont say anything but if i do i definately always do!
If someone is actually looking nice, then I do tell them. I can't fake compliments just for the sake of it. OHHH MY GOD M DARLING!! YOU LOOK GAWJUSSS!!!
Nice thread! I'll be honest if it's someone from my extended family I dont feel the need to compliment but I do think deep down that they look pretty. It's not jealousy but that's the way I am. I rarely ever compliment people. I feel comfortable complimenting random people at times lol I'm weird I guess
But sometimes, you compliment someone, just for the sake of complimenting them, but they feel they have to compliment back.. so I've had awkward moments when I've told someone they look genuinely pretty (not expecting a compliment in reply) and she had to take a few moments to think of something to say back " umm yeaah he he ... umm your parandah is cool"... awkward!
But then I've had gorah who are like dude your hair thingy is awesome, wish i could wear it! , referring to my parandah
if i genuinely love what somebody is wearing i would definitely tell them and sometimes if somebody is feeling really down and i can see that in their expressions, i would usually find something nice in what they are wearing or their own qualities and compliment them on it just to raise spirits
I usually don't have issues with complimenting. I'll even compliment strangers (example: a cashier for her jewelry, etc.) I'll compliment IF I really like something about them. Plus, I think it's cool that a simple comment has the potential to make someone's day or lift up their spirits a bit (you don't know what someone may be going through).
Also, in my opinion, I think compliments from strangers are more fun. Because the person is not obligated to praise you. Whereas with family and friends......you sometimes wonder if they complimented you because of the relationship factor.

Yeh I don't have a problem complimenting people if I really like the way they look or what they're wearing etc. But, I'm always genuine about it...I don't compliment people just for the sake of it.
And I agree, although it may seem a tad shallow, an unexpected compliment can really lift my spirits. I had a sweet old man tell me my smile was "bright and beautiful" the other day. I wouldn't describe my smile as that at all but it made my day. :@:
I don't compliment random people in the street, but I have made nice comments to someone that might be serving me at the cashdesk etc...
I do compliment friends and relatives, espcially I love to do it to the aunties, it makes them so happy it's so lovely to see their faces glow up when you do so. I don't think people compliment as much now as they used to.

lol that's so me! apart from complimenting random ppl though haha,,,, but yea i do compliment if i really like something but only when they are my close friends/family
I complement alot even to random people who are actually werning some thing good and looking good. Like the otherday a store cashire was wearing this cute top and I told her that it was so beautiful. I also sometimes fake complement just as a habbit.
