A columnist says if other slogans of rulers are seen then it appears today no word has any meaning. He was commenting on the tour of Prime Minister to some “Complaint Center” established in the PML House in Federal Capital. He says it is not know till now what was the aim or objective of establishing this complaint center.
I am sure many professional columnists now would write wonderful columns on this proving how much would this provide the common man justice. A senior Urdu columnist about two months back wrote an article in which he tried at least to prove that Chief Minister Punjab early morning first thing doing is reading newspapers and second thing solving the complaints came that morning in press. The columnist said that he wrote the column on suffering of an old man from his native village and mailed his column to the newspaper concerned. The day it was published and before the writing columnist himself could know his column had appeared came a telephone from Chief Minister Secretariat that Chief Minister has ordered to hear the complainant personally and provide justice. And the same day the Chief Minister summoned the complainant and very kindly heard him. The columnist left no effort in trying to say that this was how the Chief Minister was anxious to look into problems of citizens. The columnist forgot completely that every citizen has no link with columnists that their sufferings could get space in columns.
When rulers realize that people have started caring less what they say and when of late people start thinking how much it costs on bullet proof cars, millions on family Umras on foreign obtained loans, the press stories about plots etc then the rulers start schemes like complaint centers, open kuthceries etc. Scuh complaints centers or cells though hardly have ever produced any results reason being the motivating spirit behind is not that what is prapogaded. For example ex PM Zafarullah Khan Jamali during his visit abroad created a special cell in sis secretariat to attend to problems or complains received from Overseas Pakistanis. At least I never ever saw or heard of from my colleagues any reply coming from this Cell. The Chief Minister Punjab has created a special web site On Line Overseas Pakistanis Complaint Cell http://punjab.gov.pk/overseas_complaints.cell.html . About a year back I filed an On Line complaint on this web against a Punjab Government Department. Every two or four weeks I kept on giving reminders on this One Line web site. Chief Minister Punjab also has created special email addresses for Overseas Pakistanis [email protected] and
[email protected] to show his love for workers abroad. Likewise I kept on regularly sending emails about my complaint. It is more than on year I never ever got even a single acknowledgment form Chief Minister Punjab though on email/web it takes just a few seconds to acknowledge.
